.PURCHASE OF EXTRA AREA. LAND IN LIEU OF RATES. At, Thursday night’s meeting of the Paeroa Borough Council the .executors of A. Caserns’ estate wrote offering to sell to the borough a portion of the property adjoining the municipal offices, being part of section 18, Block 1., .and having an area of 34.5 perches, with a frontage to Princes Street of 82ft Bin, for £l4o' cash. The offer was contingent upon .the Ohinemuri Club purchasing the section adjoining the one offered to the council, and which ,was of an equal area, for .the same amount* ■ ' The writer stated .that in the event of bath sales being effected, the executors would agree to pay .to the Borough Council in part payment of rates outstanding the balance of the purcha.se money on the two areas after clearing the mortgage and land tax on the property. . ■ Cr. El Edwards intimated that the Club intended to purchase the section referred to. The Mayor (Mr W. Marshall) said that the proposition appeared to be a good one. The council would gain a valuable section, which in time would be suitable Tor the erection of municipal buildings for the storing of its plant, and for other purposes. He moved that the offer be accepted, and the solicitor instructed to prepare the transfer forthwith. Seconded by Cr. F. 0. Flatt, who said that the section .would be a valuable acquisition to the borough.
