THE NEW POST OFFICE.

BUILDING COMPLETED. A HANDSOME STRUCTURE.The new post office building is nearly completed, and the contractors (Messns Robinsen and Beagley) have reason to be proud of the appearance of the handsome structure. Little 'remains .to be done to complete tihe work, and it is understood that the department assumes control of the building as from Monday next. At the present time the work of laying cork linoleum on the floors of the office, as well as upstairs, is being carried out. Office furniture apd equipment for the building is being reeeievd daily, and is : placed into position as it arrives. The department’s telegraph gaipg and mechanicians aire busily engaged in placing the new cable in position, I'eady for the installation of the exchange switchboards. The fact tha.t smoke was to be seen coming from one of the chimneys yesterday gave a number of people the impression thjyt the building was occupied, but on making inquiries it was, ascertained that a trial, of the steam heating systepi for the building was being carried out. As might be expected in a Government building, everything is of the best and there is nothing shoddy connected with the building. The joinery, -which has all been mapdfactured at Messrs Le Manquais mill. Paeroa, is of very handsome, design and beautifully finished. Apart from good work, manship, specially selected timber .has been used, and .the grain of the rimu will be much admired. With the formation of.'the footpath •round the building a finished appearance. will be presented, and the residents of Paeroa and district will have a building that will be a credit, and one that will do service for many years, to come.
