DON’T NEGLECT A Common Case Of Piles. It May Lead To Serious Results. When people generally understand that all such fatal diseases as Fistula, Ulcer of the Rectum, Fissure, etc., almost invariably begin in a simple case of Piles, they will learn the wisdom of taking prompt treatment for the first appearance of this trouble. Doan’s Ointment is/ unequalled for every form of Piles, Deeding, Itching, Protruding, and Blind .Piles, and hundreds' of lives have been saved by using this cheap but effective remedy right at the start, because at such times a single pot has often effected a cure, while in the old deep-seated, chronic. cases several pots are x sometimes necessary. Here is a case: Mrs G. Birnie, Karaka Road, Thames, pays : "I suffered agony from itching and protruding piles, but until I used Doan’s Ointment I could get nothing to give me . more than temporary relief. The healing and soothing effects of this ointment are wonderful. It eased my suffering almost at once, and by the time I had used one pot I was cured, and I have had no return of the complaint since.” Doan’s Ointment is sold by all chemists and storekeepers at 3/- per pot, or will be posted on receipt if price by Foster-McClellan Co., 15 Hamilton Street, Sydney. But, be sure you get DOANS’. wrote advising that the total Subscriptions received amounted to £1671 4s Id. NGAHINA WHARF BERTHAGE. The Northern Steam Ship Co. wrote drawing attention. to the necessity of improving the depth of the berthage at the Ngahina; wharf and stating that the steamer was experiencing difficulty in turning, at the wharf, even at high"water.

The matter was referred to the Mayor to .take up with the Public Works Department, with a request that the area be'6'redged by the department as early as possible. CRITERION BRIDGE. The Ohinemuri County Council, wrote confirming the agreement reached with reference .to the allocation of the' two' local bodies’ costs towards the. erection of the Criterion Bridge at Paeroa, and in a covering letter .the clerk stated:— “My council desires, if it can be arranged with the department, tha,t the payment of its quota should be s-prear over two. This would enable the amount to be obtained by an increase in. th*e general; rate instead of being raised by loan. Such a method would, it is believed, be more in accordance with the policy urged upon local bodies by .the Government, which strongly discourages borrowing by load’ bodies; unless under exceptional circumstances.

‘‘l am further directed to state, with reference to the allocation, that although the agreement has been arrived at in order to avoid litigation between the two local bodies, it is to be distinctly understood' that, this council does not accept such an. allocation a,s establishing a basis upon which any contribution by this council should be made towards the upkeep of the new bridge, should any claim hereafter be made ¥or. that piupose.”

It was resolved that a certified copy of the resolution setting out the allocation of the costs agreed upon between the local bodies be forwarded under seal to the Public Works Department. LIGHT ON PUKE ROAD. Or. Silcock stated tha.t a clump of willows was obscuring an electric street light on Puke Road nea,r Whitmore’s drain, and he (suggested that the trees should be trimmed back so that .the valup of the. illumination would be visible,—Referred 1 to the works committee.
