SOUTHERN PEOPLE INTERESTED.

INQUJR’IES ABOUT THE BOROUGH.

That people in .other parts of .the Dominion are. cognisant of the advance heing- made by the Borough of Paeroa’ at present is exemplified by the following communications, which were read at meeting of ■the Borough Council, last night:— ■Mr G. C. Abraham, Piriaka, Main Trunk.linei wrote asking for particulars as to. the prospects of storting h general’ engineering and motor business at Paeroa, and inquiring it the building at one time occupied by the Pa.eroa Engineering Company -was still available, and if it contained any plant.

Cr. Brenan said that the writer might be informed t.ha.t prospects, were very bright, and would be better after July 1. (Laughter.) The matter was referred to the town clerk to supply all available information. ' * .

A resident of Browns, Southland, wrote to .the Mayor as follows. :—

“Having been a visitor from Southland to the Exhibition, Dunedin, and having secured one of your Auckland provincial handbooks, and while looking over the different districts and towns, I have selected the name of Pa.eroa as a likely place to suit me.” The writer then went on to describe the amount of cash lie had for investment, described his trade, and stated that, he was, a. married man with five children, two of whom were working. He asked the council to forward the name of some person to whom he could write for, further particulars concerning Paeroa.

The Mayor said that som® credit was due to Cr. E. A. Porritt ’for the information lie had compiled for the handbook. It also showed the value of advertising.
