OFFICIAL OPENING CEREMONY..

REQUEST TO PRIME MINISTER.

In connection with the official! opening of the new post office at Paeroa information was received at last/ night’s meeting of the Bo 1 ough Council from Mr A. M .Samuel, M.P., to the effect that he had interviewed the Prime Minister, requesting, him to perform the ceremony. The Hon. J. G. Coates had advised that he was going to find it difficult to accede to the request owing to his numerous engagements in other parts of the Dominion before’ the. opening ot Parliament.' Howcvep, a.promise ha 4 been received that-an ende’avour would be made, to visit Paeroa, and the member for the district would be advised definitely as early as possible. It was resolved that th’ Mayor, deputy-Mayor, and Cr. Brcnan be a sub-committee to arrange details for the. ceremony, ’ and that the Ohinemuri County Council, be invited to cooperate with the borough.
