A COMMISSION PROMISED. It will be remembered that on January 24 last year the Hon, Minister for Lands paid an official visit to Patetonga a,nd received a deputation of settlers from that district. Such matters as>. flood protection works, drainage, etrt, were placed be-’ fore the Minister, and .his help and co-operation, was solicited in . having the matters attended to. Little relief, however, has yet been afforded settlers in that district, and through the Patetonga, Settlers’ Association the various matters have been brought before Mr A. M; Samuel, M.P., with' a request that he use his best endeavours, to obtain relief.
When in Wellington recently Mr Sa.muel took’th© matters up with the Minister .(Hon. A. D. Mr Samuel advises tha.t he wap given to understand that tne Commission would be set up as. soon as the personnel could be arranged.
