MINISTER FOR MINES.
A VISIT TU KABANGAHAKE.
PUBLIC CRUSHING BATTERY. Following upon representations made by Mr A. M. Samuel, M.P., the Paeroa Chamber of Commerce has received advice from Mr Sa.muel that he, together with the Hon. Minister for Mines (the Hon. J. G. Anderson), will receive a deputation of bona fide miners at Karan&ihake probably on or about April 26.
Mr Sajnuol stated that he has made strong representations to tne Minister, stressing the need for the early erection of a crushing battery for the treatment of ore at Karangahake. At first, it is understood, the Minister was not at all favourably impressed with the request, but finally agreed to the ' earnest entreaties of the, member to meet the miners themselves before, definitely refusing to 'recommend the expenditure to Cabinet.
Having received the promise, to visit the district, the Chajnbch of Commerce, in conjunction with the miners, is" preparing statistics and authentic information for submission to the Minister on his arrival.
