EAST COAST RAILWAY.
- THE WAIHI-TAUBA'WA SECTION. COMPLETION NEXT YEAR. Good progress is; being made by the Public Works, Department with the bridging of the Taupiri River in connection with .the construction eastward of the section of the East Coast railway line to the point at which it will junction with the line westward from Katikati, at yvhat is known as the 14-mile. peg. , This latter section. is part of the line being constructed by the Armstrong-Whitworth CC-mpany under contract, and the specifications provide for its, completion not later tha,n March 31st, 1927, exactly twelve months 'from date. It is understood tha.t .the contractors expect to be in a position to hand the line over to the Government within the stipulated time, .and if this proves to be the case Wai hi will then be connected with Tauranga, as the final section from Te Puna to ‘the Township of Tauranga will be ready for traffic well before. Ma.rch of next year. This stretch is three or .tyur miles long, and is, being constructed by. the Public Works Department.
