.“The grader is at present in use on Tierney’s Road, Waihi, and other roads in the Waihi and Waikino ridings shall receive attention before it is removed.

“The. dam in the Karangahake gorge has been stripped of practically all its sheeting, and is now safe during time of flood. A fair amount of useful timber has been taken out, and the remaining timber I expect to remove after the next flood, which I a,m hoping will remove, the. silt and gravel from its base. “The metalling ’ of the main Te Aroha road at Waitoki is progressing satisfactorily, 40 chains having been completed, and should the Weather remain favourable the work < will be finished in about two, weeks.

“Crushing is being proceeded with a.t the quarry at Komata, and the metal is being delivered to the various roads. ■ I find it| will be necessary to increase the . quantity required on the Paeroa-Te Aroha road by an extra 100 cubic yards, and also on Puke Road by another 50 yards owing to wea-r and .tear by the increased-traffic-“A 16ft span bridge over the waterrace at Poland Road, Waikino, has collapsed. The Waihi Gold Mining Co., Ltd., disclaims responsibility, and states; that, the race was in existence prior to the road put in.. This is, a matter -that requires to be. looked into, .and if it is found otherwise the company will be charged with the cost. I intend replacing the (structure ! at an early date.”
