IMPORTANT JUDGMENT.
WEAR AND TEAR OF ROADWAY. CONTRACTOR TO PAY. A judgment of importance to localbodies, was delivered at Invercargill by Mr Cruicks-hank, S.M., on Wednesday la,st. The Wallace County Council proceeded against ■ a. contractor, Frank Christie, for £3OO for extraordinary expenses incurred in repairing Te Anau roads owing to the heavy traffic caused by defendant in conveying inaterial-for a. hotel for the Tourist Department. 'His Worship said that as the reslulti of the traffic a fairly good metal road had been cut to pieces. Contracts- had been let for repairs totalling £965, so the department had no grqund tor complaint regarding, the amount-, claimed. Judgment was given, for plaintiff for the amount claimed, and costs.
