OBITUARY.
MR. WALTER SHAW. The deatli oK Mr Walter Shaw occurred at the Thames Hospital yesterday. Deceased, who was born at Paeroa 38 years'ago, was a son of Mrs. Martha Shaw and the late Mr J.' W. Shaw, and a nephew of/Mrs W. J. ,Ellis, of Hill Street, Paeroa. He was educated at the Paeroa High School, and later went with his parents :o Waihi Beach, where he was engaged in farming operations. Deceased was a member of the 13th reinforcements, and saw considerable service, on the Western Front, where he was wounded and subjected to shell-shock. ’ He returned to New Zealand with, one of, .the l;rtt drafts in 1918, and resumed farming pursuits at the Waihi Beach. During the last 12 months he suffered considerably as a result of war injuries, and was an inmate of WaiJii, Auckland, and Thames hospitals during that period. A single man, and of retiring disposition, deceased was a well-known footballer, having played for the East club for years, and had represented that- club in interunion matches. A large number off friends in Paeroa and district, .will greatly regret his untimely, demise.
