DISTRICT NEWS.
TUBUA. RUGBY MEETING. The indications are that the Tnrua club will be a strong one this season. Over 40 members and supportei’s attended the annual meeting on Thursday evening last, and much enthusiasm shown. Mr F. Stevengi presided. .
- The balance-sheet for the past season showed a credit balance of £33 15s 4d.
Officers appointed for the season were as follows,: Patron, Mr G. Porte-, pus ; president, Mr T. White ; secretary and treasurer, Mr R. D. Macklow ; delegates to the Hauraki Plains Rugby Union, Messrs T. White and G. Gray; senior selectors., Messrs 0. Scott, G. Gray, and the captain; junior selector, Mr F. Griffiths. A s|trong management committee and a social committee were appointed. The annual membership subscription was fixed at ss, the same as in previous yea.rs> The sum of £lO was voted the Turua Domain Board for the purpose ot tile-draining the footbaj.l. field, -the Tnrua Town Board having voted a like amount. KEREPEEHI. SOCCER CLUB. Quite a number of Soccer enthusiasts attended the first annual meeting of the Kerepeehi club. In the absence of the president Mr R. Shilton presided. * The balance-sheet was read, and it showed the position of the club to be satisfactory. , Officers/ Tor the ensuing year were elected as follows: President, Mr J. M. Thompson; secretary and. treasurer, Mr H. Hoff; managemeKifi and. selection ' committee, Messrs Collinson, Murdock, Hunter, D. Shilton, Peai'ce, McMillan, Petersen, Middleton, and W. Shilton (captain). • ' The secretary reported that negotiations for a playing area had. been successful, the ground near the school being obtained. Expendtiure for improvements to the- ground was 'Sanctioned;
It was decided to agajin field a first team for the Goldfields Association, and also a junior team to compete for the Thames Junior Cup.
The meeting decided! to obtain new jerseys’ 'for the- first team, ■.tjhpse of, las/t season’s to be handed over to the juniors,.
The association notified of .the endeavour to arrange an' exhibition match to be played at Paeroa on April 3 M and that, the, first match of the competition would be played at Kerepeehi on April 17. -
It wass arranged .to start practice next week, the captain emphasising that a good deal of this wasi required to' obtain good combination. It was reported that two good players— Woodbridge, of Waihou, and Oakley,' of Thames —-were now resident in the district.
The meeting concluded with a hearty vote df thanlqs to Mr Petersen for his help during season.
