Yesterday morning Messrs C. H. Potter and A. Adam, chairman and secretary, respectively, of the Netherton Schoor-' Committee, waited upon Mr A. M. Samuel, M.P., in coir ection with school matters. A visit of inspection to the school buildings, and grounds’ was made, and Mr T. I). Rice, headmaster, was congratulated on the up-to-date buildings and tidy and attractive environs.

The work had been nearly completed, and the committee wa,s experiencing difficulty in raising the money required. While not wishing to shirk its responsibility in any way, the committee requested Mr Samuel to take the matter up and ascertain if it was not possible to relieve the committee of the burden of £3O.

In support of the request Mr Potter drew attention to the many improvements. to the school, grounds that had been carried out by the committee with the aid of voluntary contributions of ca,sh, labour, and materials. The district had been ’’hard, hit” for donations and assistance for many deserving objects lately, and the raising of! £3O in sio'small a community would be a difficult matter. :Mr Samuel expressed his, sympathy with the committee, and promised to take'the matter up with the authorities. He remarked that he considered the request a reasonable one, and he hoped he would be successful in removing the burden.
