A JAPANESE LETTER.

A QUAINT EPISTLE, During the short stay of the Japanese warship “Iwate” in Auckland a large number of people were received on board, and it must be said were all, welcomed and treated in a right royal way. A couple of young ladieis 1 from Paeroa paid a visit to the ship, and were as, much surprised as 1 they were pleased with th£ reception .they received from those on board. In reply to a letter which one of the young ladies referred to had written to a young Japanese thanking him for the courtesy and kindness came the following somewhat quaint epistle :— “Japanese Warship Iwate, 3/3/26 tyrs.' : “To Miss ; , ■ ; “Many thanks'. I received your kind letter this, morning. I regret much that I had no time to call on you, and I. am very sorry, this afternoon, my ship shall leave dear Auckland at six, o’clock (6h p.m.) for Suva. I shall never, forget your kind, and write to you letters arrived in Jajpan. Please remember me give my kind regards to your mother .and young sister. I hope your another photograph sent to me as well, as your family’s one when I, return to my country, and ff I given your photographs in commomeratidn. I 'shall be pat'petually pleased in my life. We are bound for Suva truk Saipan Futami and Yokosuka. 6th of April. 1 hope you will have a good time. lam very isorry I must stop this little note.
