DAYLIGHT SAVING.
VIEWS OF PLAINS COUNCILLORS.
ADOPTION NOT SUPPORTED.
A circular letter was received by the Hauraki Plains County Council on Tuesday from the NiZ. Sports Protection L.ea,-gue pointing out the advantages to. every section of ,the community of the adoption of what is known as “daylight saving” and asking the council to express an'opinioi on the subject.
Cr. McLoughlin moved that the measure be. supported. Cr. Parfitt s;aid that it was no good to dajrymen.' He was opposed tp It. Cr. Mayn said that he did not know anything about the subject. Cr. McLoughlin said that practical-, ly every farmer 'kept his clock an hour or so fast.
;• Cr. Mayn : It’s next door to putting a brake on the sun, and I’m going to oppose it. Cr. Harris said that farmers had to get up earlier'than everyone else now, and if the clock was put forward—well, it would not be worth while going to bed. Cr. Parfitt: Think of the poor children who would be called up an hour earlier than at present to assist, with the milking. - i A number of councillors then commenced to talk at once, and" "next businesis” was called for. ’ ,
