DISTRICT NEWS.

FOOTBALL CLUB. . The annnual meeting of the Ngatea Rugby football Club was held in the wharfshed on Monday evening, Mr C. S. Foster presiding over forty-odd membe-Ysi and supporters). The balance-sheet showed an expenditure of £64 9s Bd, and an income of £B3 13s, Jeaving a credit balance of £l9 3s 4d, compared with £l5 2s 8d at the beginning of the season.

Reporting on the season’s operations, the president slaid that, .the club had had a good year.. The senior team had fulfilled all. itsi engager ments and had only lost one -game, while the junior team had played all its matches and only lopt two. Both teams had won the competition for their respective classes. The players had been fairly well catered for, and had been taken for Several trips.

The officers appointed for the season were as follows : Patron, Mr W, G. Hayward; president, Mr J. Costello; secretary and treasurer, Mr C. Bertelsen (reappointed) ; delegates to the Hauraki Plains Rugby Union, Messrs C. S. Foster and H. Dent; senior selector, Mr Q. S. Foster; jitn-. ior selector, 1 Mr C. Bertelsen ; comnjittee, Messi’s Costello, Dent, Bertel■sen, and Foster (ex-officio), and •Messrs .T, Alderson, H. Duncan, O. Clea.ve, A. E.--Ludlow, and J. Terrill. A grounds, committee and a social committee were also appointed. The senior selector was appointed 'dub captain.

The question . of-altering the constitution of the Rugby Union to bring it into line with other unions by constituting it of, say, five men disinterested in any club, as apart from the ■delegates, was brought up by Mr Foster, who stated that he had giveh' a notice of motion tp that effect. ’ The suggestion was supported by the meeting.-, The date of the match against Netherton in return fon one last year was left to the committee, and it was decided that a smoke concert be held to open the season. It was decided that the annual subscription for players be ss, and that’ players pay ha.lf the travelling expenses.

. The delegates to the union were instructed to bring up the question of the union providing, caps or medals for the senior . and junior teams winningythe competition. . The recommendations of last year’s executive committee to the annual union meeting on Monday next were supported.
