DISTRICT NEWS.

NGATEA. TENNIS CLUB’S SOCIAL. Another of the Ngatea. Tennis Club’s dances and progressive euchre tournaments was held last evening. The club has a liability of several hundred pounds on account of its new courts, and these Ifunctions, which are held regularly, are becoming very popular, nearly fifty couples being present laSit evening. The music is provided by Mr A'. E. Ludlow, the prizes for the euchre ’.tournament are donated by other members of the club, and the supper arrangements are in the ‘hands of some of the lady members.

The first prize for ladies lajst night was won by Mrs A. R. Vowles, and the booby prize by Mrs F. Kneebone. Mr Bacon and Mr D. Waite secured the prizes in the men’s, section. Opportunity was taken at the function to make a presentation frtim the people of . Ngatea to Mr A. E. Ludlow, who has always been prepared to play dance music Tor church, tennisi, football, cricket, and hockey club dances free of charge. The presentation was made by Mr C. BerteJfen, .and it took the form of a gold-mounted fountain pen and- a silver magazine pencil.
