SAWMILL ACCIDENT.
MAN LOSES THREE FINGERS;
PLANK SLIPS IN SAW
A distressing accident befel Mr J. H. Evans, proprietor of the Paeroa sawmill, situated -on Thames Road, yesterday, whereby he had the last three fingers on his left hand severed. It appears that shortly after midday Mr Evans was working on the breast-bench, and, thinking that the plank which was passing through the siaw was not travelling correctly, he leaned forward to guide the remaining portion, with the result that) his hand came in contact with the saw. Medical aid was quickly summoned, and after receiving treatment at the mill the sufferer wap removed to the Thames Hospital, where he is progressing satisfactorily.
