CRICKET.

SATURDAY’S MATCH. PAEROA DEFEATS WAIHI. On Saturday afternoon the local Cricket Club played a friendly match with a Waihi eleven on the Paeroa Domain. The weather was ideal tor cricket, and the ground was in fair playing order, although the growth in the outfield made accurate fielding rather tricky. The local team had a, day out, and had little difficulty in .defeating the visitors by 88 runs in a single innings game. Of the local team Stack was a tower of strength .to his sjde. By careful, play he gave a good, ajl-round exhibition of cricket, and compiled a hefty score of 69 runs before being caught in midfield by Carlton. Stack was heartily applauded as he left the field. Fox z also struck form and compiled 18 before being bowled by Keating. The Other players to reach double figuresi were T. Wilkinson (13) and R. Day (11).
