"SOCCER” FOOTBALL.

GOLDFIELDS SUB-ASSOCIATION. PAEROA AS CENTRE. A conference of the Goldfields Association Football Sub-Association, attended by club delegates from 1 Wailii, Thames, Waihou, and Kerepeehi, was held in Mr Bain’s: Rooms, Belmont Road, Paeroa, on Saturday afternoon last.

The main business of the meeting was to discuss the advisability of, changing the sub-as&ociation meeting place from Waihi to Paeroa. Following discussion, it was unanimously carried that the association change its headquarters to Paeroa.

It was. also agreed to remain affiliated with the South Auckland Association unless s,ix clubs were in action in the Goldfields when direct affiliation could be applied for with Wellington.

By courtesy of the associaiton, and as a body interested in athletic sport in the district, a representative of the Paeroa Athletic Club attended the meeting. The chairman expended the best wishes of .the s.ub-associatton to the Paeroa Athletic Club, and said that he hoped the time was hot far distant when Paeroa, would have a “soccer” club.'

Tn reciprocating the asociation’s. wishes the Athletic Culb’s representative briefly explained his club’s objective, and stated .that the assistance 'of the club would be forthcoming in any efforts wihich would, besides catering for local “soccer” players, be the meaas of providing recreation for the large number of youths at present on .the line. With the Club. Competition Cup, Thames Challenge Cup, and keen interest ip the game developing throughout the district, the conference breathed a spirit of success for 1926. . ' ELECTION <OF OFFICERS. The election of for the ensuing year, resulted-. :Patron. Mr A. M. Samuel, M.P.; president, Mr W. McCullay; vice-presidents, Messrs. W.' Marshall, P. Williams.,- E. V. Slyfleld (Paeroa), T. K. Paterson, J. Weedon, W. Ratcliffe (Waihi), R. Coulter (Te Aroha), A. H. Wagstaff (Waihbu), J. ■ Thompson, ■R. Shilton, H. K. Peterson (Kerepeehi), A. Grundy, D. McKay, R.' Hill (Thames) ; secretary, Mr J. A. Bailey (Thames) ; treasurer, Mr D. McKay. x It was decided to hold a meeting of the association in' Paeroa at.- least once every month. The next meeting was fixed for Saturday, March 6, at 3 p.m. The Goldfields Competition Cup was left'in the president’s hands for display in Paeroa.

The meeting closed with a, hearty vote of .thankjs' to Mr Bain for the use of his room.
