CLOSING OF HILL STREET.

VEHICULAR TRAFFIC TO CEASE.

At a special meeting of the Paeroa Borough Council held last evening the following letter was received, from the district engineer, N.Z. Railways Department

"In accordance witli the agreement arrived at between the department and your council I have to inform you that it is proposed to close Hill Street crossing a.t 5< p.m. on- Monday, March 1, to all. except foot, traffic. Jam arranging to have the crossing- fenced on that date, and: will leave sufficient' room for pedestrians to cross the railway until the foot overhead bridge is completed.”

The Mayor (Mr Marshall) remarked that ft was satisfactory to learn that a start was to bei made so soon with the bridge. It was resolved to confirm the action of the Mayor in agreeing to close the street, and: to advertise the date on which it was to be closed. ' -
