TENNIS.

SATURDAY’S MATCH. PAEROA DRAWS WITH TURUA. Ideal weather conditions prevailed on Saturday afternoon, and it is, doubtful: if the local tennis courts have ever been in better playing condition, or the surroundings prettier. For the first time one of the new courts was used, and it played quite satisfactorily. Throughput the afternoon the five courts were in use, and the'whole presented a very animated scene.

The principal attraction was the inter-club match with Turua, which, after an interesting contest, resulted in a draw, each team scoring eleven points.

On behalf of the loca.l club the president (Mr R. L. Miller) warmly welcomed the visitors.

Mr D. G. McMillan replied on behalf of Turua, and after acknowledging the cordial reception he congratulated the local club on its fine courts and up-to-date appointments. He said that his club would look forward with keen anticipation to the return match at Turua. He advocated plenty of inter-club matches, as by such games the various clubs, not phly got in close touch with each other, but frienships were made and the experience gained was invaluable to any player. Mr McMillan concluded bj' thanking the local club for the generous hospitality accorded the visitors, and wished them $ll possible success, and prosperity. t Following are the details, Turua players being mentioned first in each instance.
