ST. LEON’S CIRCUS.

GOOD CLEAN SHOAV.

CLEVER ARTISTS AND ANIMALS.

St. Leon’s Circus and Menagerie can always be depended upon to draw a good house at Paeroa, and its appearance a,t the domain on Friday pearance at the domain lasti night was no exception. Long before 8 o’clock .the cheaper variety of seats were occupied; and/ latecomers cheerfully pajd the higher tariff rather than miss the entertainment. In the two and a half hours.’ programme submitted it would be a difficult matter to give praise to each individual artist —they all deserved it. The appointments were most up-to-date, and fa.r ahead of those usually associated with road circuses. The show wag' brisk, and there was a total absence of vulgarity. The acts included the aeronautical Dellva.nt sisters, Miss Eileen, a wee girl contortionist, and Doraine and Le Voy, who gave a thrilling exhibition on the Roman rings at a dizzy height. There were a number of other artists whose turns were decidedly clever. Special credit is due to Sadakitchi, the Japanese juggler and wire-rope walker, whose daring feats, drew rounds of applause. The performing animals are all sleek and fat, and appeared to thoroughly enjoy their part in the show. Adrian’s dogs w r ere a feature, and performed with almost human intelligence. The jokes of the clowns, were, witty and the “gags” new. A clean, bright, most enjoyable entertainment contended with an exhibition of high jumping by Tip, the cha.mpion greyhound, which cleared a 14ft obstacle with ease. |
