HAURAKI REGIMENT.
CAMP AT NGARUAWAHW , INTERESTING SYLLABUS. ' In connection with the forthcoming military camp to be. held'ati Ngaruawahia, commencing on' February 27, at which will afttend territorials of the Hauraki Regiment from Paeroa, Waihi, Thames, Te Aroha, Morrinsville, and Rotorua/ a glance at the syllabus chows that the graining is, ,to be of a more advanced nature than that carried out at evening parades, the idea being to work from the elementary stage to ‘tliat of a trained soldier. A feature will be ma,de of fire discipline, battle drill, entrenching, wiring, and minor tactics. Towards the close of the Great War many examples were shown that there was greatt'scope for the use of mobile warfare; instead of the strategic conditions which nrpstly prevailed ing the earlier pa,rt of. the campaign. With this principle in view the sylr labus has been carefully compiled, so as to embody much of the latesl) training. Facilities will, alsp be provided in camp for recreational training, including field sports, b&xirfg, and swimming. In the evenings lectures will be given on . military subjected and entertainments will be held. Lieut-Colonel R.> F. Gambrill (Gisborne), officer commanding the Hauraki Regiment, is to be camp commandant, Lieut. V. J. Innes, N.Z.S.C, (Paeroa), adjutant, and Lieut. E. G. Moncrief, M.C., camp quartermaster.
The local territorials will entrain for Ngaruawahiaj at the Paeroa station on Saturday morning, February 27.
