ANNIVERSARY DAY GAMES,

FIXED PAIRS TOURNAMENT. One of the mqst enjoyable tournaments played on the local rinks was the fixed pairs competition which took place on Anniversary Day. Commencing'soon after 9 a.m., play was carried on until nearly 7 p.m., the greatest interest and enthusiasm prevailing throughout.

The weather was ideal, and the green was in splendid playing condition. Twenty-two member’s took part in the competition, and owing to the number the players were divided into two (sections, and eleven heads only were played ,in each game. Section B was .won outright by W. H. Taylor (skip) and C. Olson. In Section A de Castro (skip) and W. Chamberlain, T. Hale (skip), and C. Mettarn, and W. Hamilton (skip) and A. Finnie reached the semi-final. In the play-off de Castro .and Chamberlain defeated Hale and Mettarn . and then Hamilton and Finnie. In the final Hamilton and Finnie, - after a strenuous afnd interesting game, defeated Taylor and Olsjon, thereby winning the tournament. Among the visitors, to the green was Mr W. Scott, of the Whitiwa Club/ Hamilton. Mr Scott took part in the tournament, and was loud in his praise of the 'beautiful green and its' environs. » BRENAN SHIELD COMPETITION..

The Bren an Memo rial" Shield competition was advanced a further stage on Saturday afternoon, when good weather conditions, prevailed, and an interesting afternoon’s play was enjoyed.
