TRAFFIC HELD UP.
HOUSE ON WEELS. OBSTRUCTION ON BRIDGE. The people of Clive - (Hawke’s Bay) witnessed an unusual occurrence a few days ago, when close on fifty motor-cars were seen drawn up in single formation on either side of the Clive Bridge, on the ro,ad between Napier and Hastings,. The cause of the trouble proved to be a five-roomed dwelling which was being shifted by means of' a tractor. The driver, who apparently had great faith in his judgment, essayed the difficult task of manoeuvring the houjse across the bridge. By keeping in the centre there were a few inches to spare on either side, but, unfortunately, when about half .the distance had been covered .the driver swerved a Little, with the result that his, load became jammed against one side of the bridge. After a delay of several hours, during which many of the motorists lent their assistance, the obstruction wap removed, and the bridge was again made clear for traffic.
