PATETONGA ROADING.
MATTER AT A STANDSTILL.
A LOAN SCHEME.
■O'wing to the impossibility of getting a representative meeting of settlers of the riding no progress has been made with the P.atetonga t reading project. Several meetingsi have been called by the Ratepayers’ Association, but at no. time has there been a sufficient muster to get a representative opinion.
The executive of the association has. a scheme whereby the Haur.aki Plains County Council 1 shall be asked to raise a loan of £lO,OOO over the whole riding. Half of this amount would be for the main road from Maukoro to Kaihere, and the other half for the (subsidiary roads. A £2 for £1 subsidy ha r s been promised for,the main road, and it is expected that subsidies will be obtained for the other roads.
As s,oon as a representative meeting can be held this scheme will be discussed.
