HIKUTAIA SPORTS.

ANNIVERSARY DAY

AN ENJOYABLE OUTING ASSURED.

Those in search of good, clean sport and an enjoyable day's outing cannot do better than attend the annual, Hikutaia Sports, which are to be held in Mrs J. Corbett’s paddock, Hikutaia, ou Friday (Anniversary Day). The committee reports that it has matters well in hand to ensure a successful meeting, and no efforts are being spared to provide a thoroughly enjoyable day’s sport. The entries receive ed for the different events are satisfactory, and compare favourably with those of last year. The chief attraction fe the Hikutaia Cup, with a first prize of £25, the distance being 120 yards. Eighteen contestants .are expected to face the starter in this event. In the 440 yards handicap 21 entries have been 'received. A varied programme of 18 events is set down for decision. All that is needed; is a fine day to ensure an enjoyable time. There will be a refreshment booth on the ground, and a band will enliven the proceedings during the afternoon. In the evening a dance will be he'l'd in the public hall. WOOD-CHOPPING EVENTS.
