PEAS FOR LAMBS.

A FATTENING CROP.

INFORMATION AS TO FEEDING. A number of farmers nbw grow peas for fattening lambs, and a good many inquiries are received as to the best time to stock them (says a writer in a contemporary). The time is just when the main portion of tlie peas are firm and turning colour in the pods. If stocked earlier the lambs do nbit take to them rea.dily, and there is considerable wastage. If the weather continueis' dry practically every pea will be picked off .the ground. Lambs should not be confined to peas, for a start, as it takes them a few days to get accustomed to them and during that period they must have access to other 'feed. After about a week the peats are eaten readily, and the necessity fo|r other fodder is not sei great. All. the same, the lambs fattening on peas, will always do' better if they have a run-off, even if it is in a bare grass paddock. Lambs on peas should, if possible, be provided with good, clean drinking water.
