KOPUARAHI.

CHURCH BAZAAR AND CONCERT.

The Kopuairahi school-room was the scene of a busy little bazaar in aid of the Presbyterian Church funds on Wednesday afternoon. The sale was arranged to dispose of the articles- 'Heft over from the bazaar held- at Turua in November last, but ma|ny other articles were also offered. These were well displayed on attractive stalls erected at one end of the roam, and from 1 p.m., when the bazaar was declared open by the Rev. Charteris, a brisk business was done. The stall-holders .were : Mrs, J. C. Miller, produce ; Mrs Johnstone, cakes and flowers; Mesdames Hudson, Willy, and Flynn, drapery ; Miss D. Miller, sweets,; Mrs J. G. Miller, a,tfernoon eea.

In the evening a pleasant concert was held in the schoolroom. The attendance was very large, and ma,ny had to be content with listening at .the windows’.

Opening with a selection by an orchestra comprising Mrs Field (piano), Messrs T. Field, B. Milljer, F. Dibble, F. Pearce (violins), E. Gill, (drums), and A. Hegh (cornet), there followed a sword dance by Miss Charteris to a bagpipe accompaniment by the Rev. Charteris, a song by Miss Holland, of Auckland; a pianoforte selection by Mr Stan. Miller, of Auckland ; songs by Mrs James, of Kopuarahi, and Miss McCullay, of Paeroa, and some ya,rns by the Rev. Charteris. All the items were deservedly encored many times, the non-appearance of four singers from Paeroa permitting of this. About 11 p.m. the produce remaining unsold at the bazaar was dAspbs,ed/ of by auction, the "Rev. Charteris officiating. Supper was then served, and the desks; which had served as septs were piled up and dancing engaged in, the music being provided by the orchestra.
