THE CENSUS.

OHINEMURI & HAURAKI PLAINS. PREPARATIONS FOR THE WORK. Although tlie census is not being taken till. April 20, the district census enumerator, Mr >V. E. Ward, Paeroa, has already made preparations for tlie work. It is nq small task, as each household lias to be served with a schedule, and has to be done within a few days of .taking the census, so it will be seen that a, small army of. men must be engaged. Paeroa has again been selected as the chief centre for the census district, and it has been arranged to include tlie Paeroa and Waihi boroughs, Turua town district, and the counties of Ohinemuri ajntl Hauraki Plains. The whole* area has been divided into fifteen sub-enumerators’ districts, as follows :— ’

Ohinemuri County: Kaimanawa Riding, 1; Paeroa Borough, 2 ; Paeroa Riding, 3 ; Karajiga'hake Riding, 4 ; Karangahake Riding, 5 ; Mangaiti Riding, 5; Kaimanawa Riding, east of Thames Road, 6 ; Waitekauri Riding, 7 ; Waihi. Riding, 9 and 10 ; Waihi Borough, 11; Waikino Riding, H. - Ha,uraki Plains County: Waitakaruru and Pipiroa Ridings, 12.; Patetonga Riding and southern portion of Ngatea Riding, 13 ; Kopuarajii, Horahia, and Turua Ridings, and ,the Turua Town District, 14 ; Kerepeehi and Netherton Ridings, 15. At lea/st eleven sub-enumerators in the Ohinemuri County, and four in the . Hauraki Plains County, will be employed. When the census was last taken on April 17, 1921, the district was somewhat smaller by reason of the fact .that the Turua town district was not included?

The sub-enumerators to carry out the work in the above districts have not yet been appointed, and there .will not be much done until nearer the diite of taking the censii|s'. The main work of the sub-enumerators will be to deliver one schedule to each householder, this paper to be filled in on the night of April 20 by the head of the family. In special, circumstances any individual may make a request for a private schedule. After the da.te mentioned each schedule will be collected by the sub-enumerators, who must carefully peruse each form”to see that each answer haiy been given correctly. If there are any discrepancies or omissions the schedules must be returned to the persons concerned for correction.
