NIGHT CHALLENGE BUTTONS.
SCHOOL COMMITTEE DEFEATED.
After holding the night-play challenge buttonts' since towards the end of last season the Paeroa School Committee team was defeated last night by the Public Works team by two points. The evening was mild and the green played particularly well.
The School Committee team comprised Morland, Walker, Mettam, Purdie (skip), and the Public Works Department team McDonaJd, Wilkinson, Marsh, Power (skip).. The game was closely fought throughout, and there wias, a good crowd of spectators present to see the contest On the fourth head the School Committee scored two, which gave them a lead of one point; then for four successive heads they failed to score and the Public Works Department scored four single poipts. On the ninth hea4 the school scored a three, and this! was equalised on the tenth head by their opponents, replying with a three. When the teams started off on the last head the Public Works Department had a lead of one point only.
