TAYLOR’S AVENUE.

THE HANDING OVER TO BOROUGH. CONDITIONS OF DEPARTMENT. At the meeting of the Paeroa Borough Council l,ast evening a letter was received from the district engine'T, NZ. Railways, confirming the verb il arrb|ngement made for the taking over of Taylor’s Avenue by the council from the department. The conditions were:—

(1) That the road receives its full quota of metal ,and is thoroughly rolled with the horse roller.

(2) That the fines will be sprbad uniformly, and the full amount required will be made up with Newster.d sand and thoroughly rolled with horse roller.

(3) That the footpath will be rolled and watered.

(1) Th,at when the foregoing is completed the council will give a certificate, taking over the road. (5) That the council may remove the filling from the old station platform! 1

The' Mayor intimated that since that letter had been received the department had t agreed to supply 200 yardts' of unscreened metal. The order ha,d been placed with the Tirphia quarry; and delivery would be given within a fortnight. On the motion of Cr. Brenan the fiction of the Mayor was endorsed, and he was tha,nked and congratulated bn the successful .Way he had concluded negotiations with the department.
