“Don Q, Sdn of Zorro,” Douglas Fairbanks’ latest film-play, which is the principal attraction to be shown to-night, has to do with a young Spanish don who comes to Spain, from California to complete his education. Circumstances make him a national hero, then, pcrveisely enough, circumstance brands him a murderei. To .avoid conviction the hero feigns suicide, and becomes the dashing a t nd mysterious Don (J- Hearing, of his son’s predicament, his father, the famous Don Diego, who won glory as Zorro in California, goes to Spain, and together father and son win back the family honour at the point of the s.word. There wifi be a matinee at 3 p.m.

Considerable interest should be aroused in connection with the presentation of Peter B. Kyne’s dramatisation of his world-famous book “Gappy Ricks,” which will commence a season of one night at) the Gaiety Theatre next Tuesday under the direction of J. G Williamson, Ltd., by arrangement with Philip Lytton, Ltd. Somebody with -a talent for statistics estimated that the actor playing the name part in “Cappy Ricks” had five columns of closely written newspaper print to remember. Therefore the producers had to be careful in choosing the right man for a role on which the whole play depended. In Ward Lyons they made a fortunate choice. This eminent actor’s: success in Melbourne was so marked that when the cable news of it was sent to Peter 0 Kyne, the author, he promptly engaged Mr Lyons for the first London production of the comedy, which will take place early next year. Meanwhile Paeroa will see Ward Lyons in this breezy comedy of the San Francisco waterfront. Cappy Ricks, Matt.
