SUNDAY EXCURSION.

A TRAIN OUTING. DAY AT WAIHI BEACH. The special train, organised by the Waihi Borough Council, conveying excursionists from Morrinsville and intermediate stations to Wajhi was well patronised yesterday. After leaving Paeroa, quite a number of passengers embarked at intermediate stations, and bv the time the train reached its destination all the carriages were well filled. There were net many boarded the train at Paeroa, but Paeroa was well represented at the beach a|l the same, as the large number of cars from this, district indicated.

Ample provision was made for the carriage of the excursionists from Waihi to the seashore. The weather wa ; s beautifully fine and calm, and it is said there were more people there yesterday than on New Year’s Day, which is saying a good deal. There was, a band in attendance, and all sorts- of pastimes were indulged in by old and young, but bathing claimed the most attention. On the whole “outing” was much enjoyed, a,nd it is hoped it will no.t be the last effort on the part of the Waihi Borough Council in this connection. i We learn officially that the train carried 250 passengers to Waihi;. Altogether, during the day, according to the offiical, whose duty it is to regulate the traffic on parts of the road, and who also keeps a record of the number of persons visiting the beach, id is estimated that 3800 persons, including children, were on the foreshore. The promoters of the excursion are extremely pleased with the result. It was only a trial trip, and in all probability the next run will be from Hamilton.
