ACCIDENT AT PURU FLAT
BOYS ARM BROKEN; FALL FROM KARAKA TREE. At rum Flat on Saturday afternoon an accident befel a son of Mr and Mrs Ba.tson, of Thames, who are spending the holidays with their family at the Coast. It appears that, with a, number of other boys, this young lad of eleven climbed a kanaka tree in the endeavour to get some berries. All went well until he had climbed almost to the top branches, when a limb he was resting on gave way and he fell to the ground, a distance of some 22ft. Fortunately he fell on his side, ajid beyond a broken arm and bruised hip lie docs not! appear to have suffered much else. A doctor was on the flat at the time, and after being examined and having his arm temporarily bound up, the little sufferer was taken to the Thames Hospital, where he remained until Sunday afternoon.
