SHORT-WEIGHT PACKAGES,

LONDON, January 1.

The Food Council has issued a white paper revealing the extent of the practice of giving short weight in foodstuffs.

Mr Cole, inspector of weights iaiid measures at Manchester, declares that 90 per cent, of .the principal! foods, including made-up packages and bags, are generally short weightPeas originally packed in lib packages were later dropped to 10oz without intimation .to the public that the packet itself was remaining the same size.
