Cbristmastide, 1925, brings appeciably nearer the dawn of that wonderful age of peace on earth afid goodwill towards men,' prophesied so long ago by the Prince of Peace, Whose sacred anniversary we celebrate this week. A year ago .the great nations were still wrangling over the war settlements, but ■ to-day the sky i|s; clearer, the storm clouds have been dispersed by the tempered winds of fraternity and common-sense, and there is on all sides a. strong desire to make peace- and goodwill the first objective, leaving time the magician, the eventual, disposal, of all other problems, hi New Zealand the people have experiened a good year, and with the full consciousness that this beautiful country is -steadily and , surely emerging from her post-war burdens and difficulties are looking forward to the coming season of festivities with high anticipation. The spirit of Christinas brings memories and impulses .that make for larger charity, a nobler generosity, and a more tender desire to forgive and be forgiven. ■Of all times hi the year Christmas, is the most emphatically associated with the ideal of goodwill and the practice of unselfishness. That is the spirit of. this festival. It carries us out of ourselves into a wider world, a world in which we see the Christ light shine, and the world lighted by the altar lamps of Charity, Love, and Reconciliation. To cur.readers, both young and old, we extend our very best wishes for A MERRY CHRISTMAS.
