ATHLETIC SPORTS.

BOY SCOUTS’ FIELD DAY.

HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL MEETING.

An innovation s,o far as Paeroa Is concerned was held at the Domain on Saturday afternoon, when a monster sports meeting under the auspices of the Paeroa Boy Scouts troop took place. The we.ather was. perfect for outdoor sports, and in view of the proceeds of the meeting being devoted to the scouts’ Christmas camp fund, the public accorded very liberal support. The programme was well, arr ranged, and there was, not a dull moment foi' the large number of spectators. The events were got off well to time, and there were no accidents of any kind to mar the afternoon’s pleasure. Considerable credit is due to Mr D. A. Vincent (scoutmaster) and Messrs J. D. Crawford and J. M. Crosby) joint secretaries, ajs well as, the army of officials, who worked so assiduously to ensure the successful management of the meeting. In addition to the loca> scouts, visiting scouts were present from Hamilton and Manawaru.

The Domain lends, itself admirably to a gathering of this nature, and it is hoped that Saturday's meeting will be the forerunner of others, and that it will act as, an incentive to the recently formed Paeroa Athletic Association.
