FAILURE OF POWER.
BREAKDOWN AT HWAHORA, RELIEF FROM TAURANGA. ' Shortly after 9.30' on .Friday nignt the electric supply failed throughout the Borough of Paeroa. Fortunately business houses had closed, otherwise considerable inconvenience woul'd have been caused the public, as it wars late sjiopping n'ght- After being in darkness for about teii minutes the power was restored, but only for a brief interval, when. it failed again, to be restored permanently a few minutes later.
•On inquiries being made on Saturday morning it was stated by Mr Jenkin, local engineer to the Thames Vally Power Board that as far as he had been able to ascertain the breakdown had occurred at the at Horahora. The last stoppage was of a serious nature,' and the Horah’oraWaikino high tension line was thrown out of commission until after 10 o'clock on Saturday morning. During the interim "electricity was. obtained from the Tauramga power station, which, with the assistance of the Grand Junction at Waihi,< was sufficient to carry on until repairs »t Horahora were effected.
