Advice has been received by the Thames Valley Electric Power Board that the case of Coombe v. the board has been .adjourned .till the February sessions of the Supreme Court as the extent of Coombc’s disabilities could not be .ascertained at present. The claim is for £1220 for injuries received in a live wire accident near Waharoa several months ago. The chairman (Mr F,. H. Claxton) stated at last Tuesday’s meeting that the liability of the insurance company was up to £looo'.
Speaking at the Hauraki A. and P. Association’s annual smoker at Paeroa on Thursday night Mr W. A. Cummings, Hamilton, stressed the need foi farmers to give attention to the side lines on a farm. He contended that there was a lot of money to be made from poultry, and suggested that the Ruakura, Fann should be asked to forward a consignment of utility poultry to the show for exhibition purposes, and also an official to explain the merits and demerits of the birds.
The proposed athletic sports, meeting, the objective of the newly inaugurated Paeroa Athletic Club, advanced a further step at the management committee meeting on Saturday night. The matter of finance, the first “hurdle” of any newly formed club or body, received careful The committee decided to leave over until its. next meeting on January 11, 1926, the fixing of a suitable date for the local athletic meeting. The club membership was fixed at 5s 6d, it being felt that this would enable everyone interested to assist and would not hinder more liberal donors-.
