ENTERTAINMENTS.

GAIETY THEATRE PICTURES, TO-NIGHT. HEARTS OF OAK. The sjupreme sacrifice one man can make for another is to lay down his life for him. In “Hearts of Oak,” which is' to be shown to-night, this apex of altruism is reached in a dramatic manner. Terry Dunnivan, discovering that his adopted daughter married him merely from gratitude, but' really love® his adopted son, takes the boy’s place on a suicide venture •to the Arctic. He knows his changes of returning are small, and he instructs his children to marry after a reasonable time has passed. This human role, played by Hobart Bosworth, it is safe to predict, will, go down in motion picture annals as one of the outstanding character pbrti’ails of all times. “ NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH.” TO-MORROW NIGHT. ffhose who have seen any of the plays staged by the Thames amateurs within the last few years can rest assured that the present production wi 11 not fall below the standard set by “The Passing of the Third Floor Back,” or “The Lucky One.’’ The play- should prove the most popular local production for a very long time. There is a particularly strong cast, and patrons are assured of their money’s worth. The story centres round a w'ager of 10,00'0 dollars, taken by a financially embarrassed young man to tell “the truth and nothing but the truth” for 241 hours. His task is most humorously complicated by the persistence of his three rivals in asking all sorts embarrassing questions at the most awkward moments. Intensely amusing situations are created, and the plot readily unfolds itself into one long laugh. The proceeds are to improve the Paeroa District High School grounds. Whatever amount is raised is l doubled by a Government subsidy. Citizens of Paeroa, for the sake of the children, buy your tickets now. Come along bn Thursday night to the Gaiety Theatre, Paeroa, and you won’t be disappointed.
