DELEGATES MEET AT PAEROA. ARRANGEMENT OF FUNCTION. A largely attended meeting ,qf delegates was held in the Soldiers’ Club, Paeroa, on Thursday evening for the purpose of considering matters in ebn--nection with -the proposed presents- ; tion to Mr H. Poland, who for the last twenty years has, represented the--. Ohinemuri electorate in Parliament. . His Worship the Mayor (Mr W. Marshall) presided, and there were also . present:* Messrs W. M. Wallnutt (Mayor of Waihi), J. J. Ritchie (town clerk, Waihi), F. Walters, (chairman of the Piako County Council).; !- B, Morris and W, Bramble, Karanga- ... hake; E. Furey and W. Bice, WajhiL-S F. V. Flbwerd.ay, Elstow ; F. Chefiings, Waitoa ; W. J. Phillips and A. Southby, Waikino; M. Abbott, Springdale ; and a number of Paeroa residents. The Mayor of Paeroa was - elected, chairman of’the committee, Mr J. !• / Ritchie general treasurer, and Mr ,W. C. Alexander minute secretary. The meeting was of an enthusiastic , i?; nature throughout, and indicated that the project would receive hearty support. ; General discussion took pl,ace as to the best form of presentation to make, ■ and it was finally decided ; to present Mr Poland with an address and a suitable memento of .the occasion, and ; to also include a presentation to - Mrs Poland, who has been a staunch and loyal helpmate to Mr Poland during 7 his lengthy term in Parliament. It was resolved that the function, which is to take the form of a musical evening , be held in the Gaiety Theatre,-Paeroa, on Tuesday, December 15. The function will commence with musical items, after .wfhich the < presentations will be made, followed by speeches- by representatives of the . local bodies throughout the electorate. It is proposed to make a charge for admission of sixpence, and the proceeds, after defraying Ahe cost of the .. hall,, etc., will be handed to the Paeroa Beautifying Society to purchase a -■< seat or seats, to be inscribed “Poland . testimonial seat.” ” t It is proposed to reserve seats for . visitors from outside Paeroa, provided i the representatives from each part of ' the electorate advise the town clerk . ais to the number required before nobn < on December 14. z ' - ; An executive committee, comprising the Mayor and town-clerk of Waihi, •’ Mayor of Paeroa, and Messrs P.
