MOTOR AND HORSEMAN COLLIDE.

CAR PASSES OVER THROWN MAN.

Mr F. W. Epps, farmer, of Mangatarata, and one time telegraph linesman at Paeroa, now lies in the Thames Hospital in a very critical sta.te as the result of an accident that befel him on the Waitakaruru-Nga.tea road on Wednesday afternoon. The facts of the case are difficult to ascertain, but apparently Mr Epps was riding ,a horse which shied at something on the side of .the road and backed in front of an approaching motor-car. The rider was thrown off and the vehicle passed over him. Mr Epps was attended by Dr. Lange and sent to the hospital, where it was found that in addition to numerous bruises and abrasions he had sustained a broken pelvis.

Inquiries at the hospital yesterday elicited the information that the condition of Mr Epps, was serious, and that it li,ad been necessary to X-ray him all over. !

Mr Epps is a. married man, aged about 56 years.
