DRAINAGE BOARD.

HAURAKI AREA. .. MONTHLY MEETING. The regular meeting of the Hauraki Drainage Board was held at Turua on Friday last, Mr G.jGray presiding over Mes,srs D. G. McMillan, RL Heappey, R. Baker, J. Mules, and the clerk (Mr J. E. Green). CONTRACT WORK. . ' Mr Baker reported that the contract for laying back the Gumtown roadside ’ drain, the Bakei’-Madgwick drain, and the roadside drain, from the Willow drain to Orchard East Road had been completed. Mr Mules reported that the Raratuna Street contract had been completed. The clerk reported that contracts had been let for .the Monganui and Porritt’s' outlets. . ' . PEKAPEKA ROAD. . Mr Heappey said it had been agreed that before the County Council commenced grading a road which had a drain alongside the county engineer and the area representative should meet and'inspect the drain, sp that damage caused. cyuld be assessed. Pekapeka Road was being graded, but no conference had been held. A great deal of damage had been caused. It was decided that the county engineer should be asked to meet Mr Heappey and go into the matter. ROADSIDE DRAIN. Mr Mules reported that the roadside drain near the Willow drain was slipping badly. It was decided that the chairman and are,a member go into the question of laying pipes. WHAREPOA CORNER CULVERTS. Mr McMillan reported that the County Council’s .tractor had been driven too close to the end of the new culvert at the Wharepoa Fe r ry corner, with the result that the timber supports hadi been broken and the drain partially blocked. It was decided .to approach the county engineer on the matter. NEXT MEETING. In view of the fact that the of the December meeting fell on Christmas, Day, it was resolved that no .meeting be held unless some urgent business came up.
