FORTHCOMING SHOW.
MEETING OF COMMITTEE, ARRANGEMENTS WELL IN HAND. • A meeting of the general, committee of the Hauraki Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held in Bain’s Rooms, Paeroa, on Friday evening, the president (Mr W. J. Hall) presiding over the following: Messrs E. WPorritt, J. P. Findlay, W. 'F., Johnstone, B. E. Veale, J. W. Silcock, N; Beattie, W. J. Andrews, El P. Fathers-; P. R. Hubbard, D. Sheehan, and E. Edwards, secretary. ■ MEMBERSHIP. Resignations were received with regret from Messi’s T. C. Bayliss, Paeroa, and E. N. Miller, Thames. Mr C. Townshend; junr., Paeroa, was elected a member. - BOY SCOUTS’ MEETING. A letter was received from the scoutmaster of the Paeroa troop of Boy Scouts, advising that a sports gathering was- to be held at the domain on December 19, the proceeds to be utilised in defraying a .Christmas encampment for the troop. Permission was sought for the use of the ring fence, hurdles, .etc., conditional on the ground being left in good order. ' Several members spoke in glowing terms of the Scout organisation, and expressed their pleasure and satisfaction that a sports gathering was being organised. The request was readily agreed to. Permission was also granted for not more than six scouts to sell tickets and distribute handbills on show day. BAND FOR PEOPLE’S DAY. The secretary was instructed to arrange for a band to dispense music on People’s Day, on terms similar to last year. r . . CHARGES FOR ADMISSION. After a lengthy discus.ion it w ( as resolved that the charges for admission would be as- follows: - First day, adults Is, children free ; People’s Day, adults 2s, children 6d. SHEEP ENTRIES. ' - It v was resolved that sheep would not require to be penned until /the 'Second day of the v show, judging to commence at 9 a.m. GROUND COMMITTEE. The secretary intimated that there would be considerable work to be done on the grounds. A new’ring required to be made, and in all. probability a greater part of the domain would require rcllng. A sub-committee, comprising Messrs Silcock, Fathers, Sheehan,_ Johnstone, Findlay, Beattie, and Hubbard, was appointed to go into the matter, with power.to act. . , CANVASS FOR TROPHIES. The following canvassers for trophies and entries were appointed : Waihi, J. W. Silcock; Paeroa, Messrs Hubbard, Fathers, and Vugiar; Thames. Messrs Hall and Edwards; Netherton, Messrs J. A. Reid and H. J. Hare. s - SHOW “SMOKER.” A special committee, comprising Messre Fathers (convener), Findlay, Silcock, Sheehan, and Johnstone, was set. up to arrange for the annual “ smoker,” to be held on the evening of the first day of the show.
