PUBLIC SWIMMING BATH.

Sir, —Why has Paeroa no swimming baths ? Surely a .township as, old as ours, and of such “growing importance ' as latterly Paeroa has proved to be,, can raise sufficient funds to provide--for so good a purpose, and one that is of healthy benefit to' all members of the community—a public swimming bath ! There are a great many’ points about Paeroa: the-township beautifully situated and* easy of: access ; its new and up-to-date public buildings, its many shops, its church-’ es and halls, its playing spaces and grounds, its people sociably inclined and sports* loving—a happy combination that makes- the township almost ideal. Almost, for there is- one fault to mar the perfection—the absence of a swimming bath. Fortunately, the. defect is one that' can be remedied, and it rests with the people of Paeroa to get together early to discuss ways and means, towards the desired end. Think of .the adv, antages*to be gained: the joyful days spent in the cool, water by. the kiddies during the hot summer holidays ; the healthy exercise ; the ability" to swim, and, perhaps; s.ave life —perhaps of reader; it may be written in the Book of Fate that your own life will be saved by a graduate of the Paeroa Swimming Bath. The writer is prepared to do her bit towards helping the movement, and it is hoped an abler pen will take up the matter and that soon the long-stand-ing reproach to our town will be removed. LUCILLE.
