OHINEMURI LICENSING REFORM.
CTo the Editor.J Sir, —The people of Ohinemuri at the general election by their voting power have made it clear to the New Zealand Government that they wish the hotels to open again in their electorate. Therefore, it must be taken for granted that 'they are quite satisfied to go. back to the old routine of control. Reading our papers, I notice where Mr Bankart and the Auckland branch of Licensing. Reform (by a mere coincidence and at the same time) decided to take a tremendous interest in the welfare of our.district. Now these people have decided on a scheme for us.: they have passed resolutions., and have had them forwarded on to' the Government, hoping, no doubt, to obtain a sympathetic hearing. This idea of reform did not originate with the electors, but it seems as though it is being tried and forcqjj on us. Who are these people ? Or whom do they represent ? It seems to .me they are over-stepping the mark. .They say it would be a good opportunity of trying the experiment. We have already tried one which was a farce. What these people are advocating is nothing more or.leqs than State control, only the New Zealand Government will' not be ‘‘the State.” , ONE WHO VOTED RESTORATION.
