ELECTION DAY.
BUSY SCENE IN PAEROA. Considerable interest is being taken ir. the general elections and licensing matters locally to-day. At an eaily hour this morning im tor-car, were on the streets ready to convey the electors to the polling booth at the Gaiety Theatre at 9 a.m.The majority of the business premises closed at mid-day to-day, and this afternoon'the main streets and Wharf Street presented an animated appearance. It is considered that the poll in Paeroa will be an exceptionally heavy one. One of. the first electors to vote this morning was Mrs B. Brown,, of Rotokohu, who is nearing the century mark. It is stated that Mrs Brown still retains her faculties and takes a keen interest in political and local, body affairs. This morning, although the aged lady had to receive considerable help from attendants and the poll clerks, she was fully cognisant of sow to vote, and her mind was quite clear on the licensing issues.
