The N.Z. v Co-operative Dairy Co. is reducing the price of all brands of the company’s butter twopence from November,- 5 (to-morrow).

The warm weather of the past week has induced /wimmers to" commence their favourite recreation at this early stage of the season. During the week-end Tarariki Creek and Komata Creek were visited by a large number of water enthusiasts.

Much needed repairs are at present being carried out on the main 'traffic bridge over the Ohinemuri River, .at Paeroa. The longitudinal decking is being replaced with new rimu timber at an estimated cost of £lOO. The. work- is being done by the borough council.

It is rumoured in Waitiakaruru that the proposal to establish a hydropathic sanatorium at the hot springs near the Miranda Road is likely ,l o be given effect to in the near future. As is well-known locally, the springs are very beneficial for rheumatfemal and kindred complaints, as several local people can temstify. The springs are also popular as a bathing and picnic resort.

The work of laying the TuruaOronga Road as a bitumen-bound -road is progressing slowly. Up till Monday about half a mile had been completed. There should be no doubt about the foundations of this road as the old metal was scarified lightly and new metal was laid last summer. Any holeis that developed, during the winter months were filled in by the contractors. The top course of metal is being laid to a depth of four or five inches.

A small whare situated near the football ground at Ngatea, and occupied by Mr Tom Mclnerney was completely destroyed by fire on Friday afternoon: The contents were lost, and the old man, who was asleep at the .time, escaped only just in time. Mr Mclnerney always; took a keen interest in football, and kept the ground in order for club and representative matches and on Saturday'-afternoon and Sunday morning a group of football officials and others erected a new whare for him out of ah old shed.
